The HUB will provide economic empowerment and health services to Hough by leveraging social capital, technology, and collaborative partnerships.
The HUB will also host other activities for children, including music and arts and crafts, which will supplement the economic empowerment and healthcare work planned for the project.
The healthcare services will be provided in collaboration with PRIMARE360 and The Cleveland Clinic. These two organizations will work together to provide the first line of defense for health care services available on the first floor. This immediate access to healthcare for residents of the Ninety-Four Ten Hough project, and the overall Hough Community, will provide residents with access to primary care in support of an early diagnosis of illnesses. The creators of PRIMACARE360 have first-hand experience building COVID-19 Hospitals across the country, where they witnessed people of color being admitted to these hospitals in grave conditions. Their experiences demonstrate that people of color from underserved neighborhoods did not get early diagnosis and treatment for COVID-19. Many individuals would not take time off to go to a clinic or hospital when they felt ill. PRIMACARE360, which will operate out of the Ninety-Four Ten Hough Amenity Building, will provide healthcare services in the evenings and weekends. This off-hours access will allow residents of the neighborhood to obtain the assistance they need without impacting their employment or economic stability. Research shows that accessibility is one of the main reasons individuals do not keep appointments.
The second floor will be dedicated to business, entrepreneurial, and employment services. Several platforms under the NREUV umbrella, WFL Collective™(WFLC), Project Community Capital®(PCC), and Heighten The Hustle™, will provide services on-site, which provide Hough and other Cleveland residents with economic opportunities. A large part of what PCC does is connect individuals with employment, education, and training opportunities. Through its Non-Profit arm – WFLC has formed collaborations with Towards Employment, Dress for Success, and The Centers. WFLC is based on a collective impact model that brings organizations with similar missions to attain similar goals. PCC and WFLC will continue to work to create additional partnerships that will help provide the services residents will need to be successful. PCC cultivates relationships with employers by leveraging Dr. Merritt's high-value social capital, PCC/WFLC's founder, and her team's network of employer relationships.
PCC's business services include consulting for small businesses and connections to contracting opportunities. Heighten The Hustle™, PCC's entrepreneurial accelerator, provides a business plan boot camp, seed capital, and contract connections (via social capital) to help elevate entrepreneurs from the hustle in their homes to a business in the mainstream.
